Stinky, Stinky Fish

My condo stinks. I made fish tacos for my book group on Saturday - and I am pretty sure that my neighbors above, below, and beside me are all thinking something died in the hallway. For one, I was too tired to clean the skillet after everyone left, so I thought, well, I'll just let it soak overnight. Kinda didn't think about the fact that it was FISH, not lasagna. Then I woke up yesterday to run the Jingle Bell Run and kinda spaced on the fact that the rotting fish was soaking in the sink. So I get back after running and a little shopping - and am completely stumped about why the condo smells so completely horrid. I figured it out at 8pm last night. So I cleaned the skillet, wiped down everything I could think of that might have had any contact with the fish, turned on all the venting things I could muster, and hoped for the best. Went for a little walk this morning, came back and egad - it's still there!! Why doth the fish haunt me so??? Sure, I cooked it - and I'm sure it would've preferred to have lived out its life swimming in some pristine sea. Perhaps this is vengeance.

I've been walking around sniffing everything - kinda like a Beagle - still stumped. Until I decided to approach it like a CSI detective - or something like that... the facts: said fish was cooked in the kitchen. Strongest fish smell is coming from the sink. Sink has been completely washed, rewashed, and washed yet again. In sink erator has been run for a LONG time. Trash, however, including all of the paper plates with FISH TACO REMNANTS, is still under the sink. Perhaps I should take it out...

Did your book club have a food fight when you weren't looking? Perhaps there are fish remnants lurking behind the refrigerator too.
