I apparently live in a retirement community. I kind of knew this, but last night at the annual homeowners' budget ratification meeting, the reality really set in. I think I was one of 3 (of 57 people present) folks under 80ish. Granted, I know there are more of us - I see them in the halls. But at this meeting, we were outnumbered.
Aside from the fact that it was a rather painful meeting filled with uninformed and caustic comments by my fellow youngsters, snide passive aggressive comments from the older folks sitting near me, and I left early due to having abreactions to my horrible 2 years on my former condo's board - there were some humorous moments. At Shady Grove Nursing Home and Condos.
1) It took 30 minutes to sign in because of all of the folks ahead of me shuffling along with walkers and canes
2) The 3 women sitting next to me whispered to one another the whole meeting about who had wedding or widower's rings on, and who didn't
3) Two people had to ask the property manager to speak louder because of their hearing aids
Okay - so not so many humorous moments. But it does explain why it's so quiet around here.
