to not pay bills at 5:30am.
This morning I woke up a little early... not unusual given my little insomnia issue... so I decided it was high time I actually paid those 2 bills sitting on my counter for the last week or two. One was yet another bill from my breast biopsy 6 months ago. I will probably still be getting bills for that when I'm 80. Perhaps when I'm 90. Perhaps poor Max will be paying bills from my estate well after I've passed away and he's in his 60's. Not that I'm bitter or anything. Anyway. This one was for $8.14. From yet another pathology collective. I mean, I have no idea how all of these different companies were involved or what they actually did with my breast tissue - I just keep getting bills and writing out checks. And this was for a procedure that took 20 minutes. I can't imagine the barrage of bills if you actually had something that took more than 20 minutes to rule out or treat.
Anyhoo. The other bill was substantially higher - and, well, you can see where this is going. I mixed up the envelopes, so I manged to send Cellunetix Insane Pathologists $450 for a 8 dollar bill. I have never done this before and can't say I'll likely ever do it again. Anyway . So I called the nice people at Cellunetix and the nice woman there apologized profusely, but said they are such a big company there is no way to intercept my payment before it's processed. So I then called my bank and after waiting on hold for like 20 minutes got someone on the phone who I could NOT understand. I mean, at all. This is the case study for why outsourcing is not a good idea. I'm not sure where my call went - I'm guessing Japan. After many repetitions I finally understood that if she canceled it over the phone it'd be a $30 charge, and if I did it online, it'd be a $15 charge. So I kind of rudely hung up before she finished thanking me for calling WEHMMUI (sorry) and went and paid it online.
So, I am counting this as yet another bill for my biopsy. $15 from Washington Mutual. This way I can count it as a tax deduction.
